In 1991, Breakthrough Breast Cancer established the UK’s first dedicated breast cancer research centre, the centre brings together over 100 world-class scientists working together under one roof providing education & awareness about breast canc

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

Relies on supporters for 99% of its income, without this support it couldn't provide any of its services for people

living with cancer.

Their 3,003 nurses helped around 320,000 people in 2006 and Allied Health Professionals reached over 57,000 people.
These professionals play a vital role in helping people cope with the physical and emotional effects of cancer.

Breast Cancer facts in the UK:

The lifetime risk of women developing breast cancer is one in nine.
More than 40,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999.
Almost 13,000 women died from breast cancer in 2001.
Breast cancer is the second biggest cause of death from cancer in women in the UK.
Eighty per cent of breast cancers occur in post-menopausal women.
One per cent of breast cancers occur in men.
